Carolyn Perkins Manson died peacefully at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, GA, on November 16, 2024. Born on August 11th, 1936, in Miami, Florida, she moved with her parents to Savannah in 1937 and she proudly called Savannah her home for 75 years. Carolyn spent the last years of her life in Gainesville, GA and Bethlehem, GA.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rosemary Hobbs Perkins and Clinton Perkins, sister, Rosemary Perkins Shuman and husband Marion H. Manson.

Carolyn graduated from Savannah High School in January 1954. She was immediately employed by The Citizen and Southern National Bank, now Bank of America, in Savannah and Atlanta and she also worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta. Returning to Savannah in 1958 she worked several years at the Liberty National Bank and Trust, and as church hostess at both Trinity United Methodist Church and White Bluff United Methodist Church retiring in 1987.

Carolyn was active in community service throughout her life via membership in Savannah Junior Woman’s Club and Huntingdon Woman’s Guild. She served as officer in the local, district and state organizations of the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs groups. She served as President three times of the local clubs, Junior Director, first Vice President, President, Education Division Chair and Chaplain of Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs. Carolyn received her club’s Outstanding Member three times and Family of the Year award.

Carolyn was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and White Bluff United Methodist Church. She served as Chair of Trustees and was also a building committee chair in her time at White Bluff UMC. She held positions of President in her local unit and district organizations of United Methodist Women and was also President and Vice President of the South Georgia Conference for United Methodist Women. Carolyn loved her church friends and took great pride in leading Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and helping the church function efficiently. An unwavering Christian faith guided Carolyn through her life.

Carolyn married Marion H. Manson on February 13, 1955, at Trinity United Methodist Church. They were married for 62 years. Carolyn enjoyed traveling with Marion and she was proud to say she had visited all 50 states in her lifetime.

Carolyn is survived by her three sons. Robert Hugh Manson (Sheryl) of Midway, GA, Willam M. Manson (Bev) of Statham, GA, and Barry Manson (Cindy) of Roswell, GA. Her grandchildren include Courtney Manson Mason (Joseph), Bryce Manson (Kimberly), Brooks Manson (Lexus), Brennan Manson (Skylar) and Allie Manson. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren Emersyn Mason and Wyatt Manson. She is survived by a sister, Linda Perkins Martin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at White Bluff Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to White Bluff Methodist Church.
